| Chair – A great start to 2010 with all that is happening in the Club. The new website is up and running and is getting a fantastic response from members and indeed tri-athletes all over Wales. The Club Champs have also returned and again had a great feedback. Friday after swimming will now be Friday Club Night – a chance to have a drink and relax with our fellow members. All the signs are here to make 2010 a successful and happy year for the club. Good luck everyone ! Treasurer – Off ski-ing at time of writing!
Sec/Welfare Officer – Am busy processing membership renewals and getting members database up together. | Please let us know what events you’ve taken part in and what’s looming on your race calendar – will give members an opportunity for shared training, mutual support, lift sharing etcMorgan Davies has been out there competing in all weathers – putting the rest of us to shame. Stop Press: Now Welsh X Country champ – well done Morgan!!
Matthew Davies has made his debut in the Gwent cross-country league. Debbie competed at the Cirencester Off Road Duathlon Feb 14th (very romantic day for my hubby!) and met the Lesser Spotted Racing Snake that is Simon Osborne –he came 8th overall and topped his age group – congrats- and best wishes in upcoming du age group champs. I came in first off the first run – which totally freaked me out! - and slipped back to 6th f overall by the end, suffering a bit of a mechanical with saddle sliding down – darn quick release too loose – but managed 2nd vet so happy enough. Will be doing the Llanelli Half 7th March. Wayne Bryant is training (?!) for the London Marathon – all the best Nick Wager is undertaking a fantastic charity bike ride around Wales in a couple of months – stopping off at all the kidney dialysis units. | Coaching and Training |
| We have two members interested in becoming coaches and will be put on the Level One BTF course as soon as it is announced. Meanwhile any advice you want about your training, feel free to ask any of our coaches at our training sessions or on club night. Let Mike know if you are interested in coaching. |
| Club Development |
| FEEDBACK FROM MEMBERS SURVEY – thanks to those that completed the survey – its given us a useful snapshot of club life. Here’s the main points and what we aim to do ..Turbo/Llandow – feedback positive. Duathlon/time trial wanted at Llandow –will make a TT one of our club champs.
Swim – feedback positive. More drills/regular coaching wanted – Richard Jones now doing some additional coaching and every session will have a drills subset. Don’t forget the technique lane which is the place to go for some feedback on your stroke – useful if you are an experienced swimmer or a novice. Sunday Club Ride – bit of a split between those wanting to go harder/longer and those wanting to build cycling fitness up and want shorter/easier – nothing new there then! Will have an open meeting for those who do attend/would like to attend the club ride, after swimming by end March, to try and come up with a format that works for the majority. Social Events – more wanted -particularly things that include the WAGS and their male equivalent! Now having a regular social after Fri swim and Caroline has lots of plans. Watch this space. Additional Training – lots of interest in open water swimming, bike maintenance, transition training. Will aim to schedule these in the first half of this year. Novice training day with Cardiff Tri planned. See website for more info. General Points – club not especially welcoming to new members. Sorry to folks that feel that way. Comments taken on board. Have plans afoot to assist new members with training needs – more to follow. STAR ACCREDITATION. We are due a performance review by Welsh Triathlon as the end of our first year as an accredited club approaches. At the club AGM it was agreed that the club will publish its annual objectives and an action plan – will be done by the end of Feb. Your views on club life are important. If you have anything you’d like the committee to discuss please let us know. |
